Regina was born during the war, to a family that already had eight half-siblings for her to play with, and would soon have five more.  She never knew her father, and the one time she asked about him her mother scolded her for being ungrateful.  It didn’t matter if most other children had fathers; what did she need one for, when she had all these other people in her family?  They were a pretty happy family, too.  Her mom didn’t really do mother-ish things, even though she loved them all.  It was more her older brothers and sisters that handled the knee-scrapes and the report cards.  Regina’s mom was the person everyone liked playing video games with, and when they were older, getting drunk or high with on the porch.  

They didn’t have much money, and it was definitely not a traditional situation, but they were pretty happy.  Siblings had a habit of falling out of contact when they started their ‘real’ lives, though.  This only got worse after her oldest sister Zooey was killed in the war.  Amazingly, most of her older siblings survived deployment, but Zooey was sort of the head of the family, and some people stopped coming back to visit after she wasn’t making them.  Regina was determined not to do the same when she started her real life, but it’s sort of started happening naturally.  Her mom disappeared a few years back, and now her younger siblings live with scattered older ones all over the city, but Regina always makes the rounds when there’s a birthday or holiday.  And she has nieces and nephews, now, which is very exciting to her.

Corporal Sark | 34 | Head of Security | Suggested FC: Tom Hardy | OPEN

Sark is his last name.  Possibly his last name.  First name is not revealed very easily, even in the event that it’s a fake one.  Your full name can be dangerous in the wrong hands, after all.  You can never be too careful.  CONSTANT VIGILANCE.  

You don’t know much about Sark’s past.  You know he was part of the last human infantry, and that he fought alongside Lt. Colonel Faraj and Captain Oliver in Japan.  You know whatever made those guys Official Traitors also made him an Official Traitor, and that afterwards, he made the same decision they did - to keep fighting for what he believed in, no matter what the cost.  As such, he currently lives, works, and plays at San Francisco Base 1, where he’s the Head of Security.  A job that is actually really, really exciting.  While still being safe, because he keeps it safe.  SFB-1 is one of the best-protected buildings in the history of ever, probably.  And you have Sark and his neurotic, paranoid, over-protective tendencies to thank for that.  That and his dogs.  He breeds these huge-ass guard dogs that scare everybody he wants them to scare.

Skills Mun Should Have: Knowledge of dogs, knowledge of PTSD, ability to speak with dry humor in complete sentences.  Ability to think up worst-case scenarios.  Ability to be very, very, very passive in conveying emotions, as if as soon as the emotion’s noticeable someone’s gonna just take those emotions and turn them into a bludgeoning stick and just like fuck up your whole world and all your pets with that stick and make you watch.

Yamada Ichiro | 22 | Accountant | Suggested FC: Ryunosuke Kamiki | OPEN

Numbers.  Numbers numbers numbers.  Numbers are the only things that make sense.  Mathematics is the only language that is universal.  When humanity perishes and Earth is nothing but dust and even the sun has gone out, the language of mathematics will still be sung in every corner of existence.  It doesn’t need words to talk about it or minds to think about it; it simply exists.  Equations are not busy-work; they are the interpretation of that existence.  Math is not just a class you have to take in high school.  Math is the one worthwhile philosophy.

Yamada Ichiro would, of course, never actually say this.  But he thinks it, and feels it.  If he were a different kind of man he would probably get Pi tattooed around his arm and all over his body until he ran out of skin to hold all those numbers.  But he’s not really a tattoo-getting kind of person. 

Mr. Yamada does some actuary stuff on the side.  He’s published a few articles under a penname.  After graduating from some prestigious university, he joined the same organization his parents were part of, before him.  They’re retired, now.  He grew up the only child of an old, wealthy family, not that he ever spent their money on anything but computers.  His parents are some of the upper-class that managed to entirely avoid the war, but they were also very moral about it.  They tried to make sure others could avoid the violence, too.  This kept them busy throughout most of his childhood, but he didn’t really care.  Nope.  Totally didn’t care.  Except isolation really affected his world-view, and he’s beginning to notice he has a kind of sheltered knowledge of existence, and that he can’t really connect to other people like a normal human.

People make him impatient, sometimes.  They have too many emotions, and they complicate things that should flow easily.  The world would be shit without them, though.  He has huge respect and admiration for the ones that can be emotional and cheery-bright, traits he’s never quite been able to find in himself, though his father is sort of like that.  

He doesn’t really like animals, except for fish.

Skills Mun Should Have: Actual mathematical skills and knowledge.  I’m not talking mathematician here, but you should at least have enjoyed your math and physics classes.  Japanese language skills would be desirable but are not required.  If he ever really, desperately needs to say something in Japanese we have someone here who can translate for you.

Tip for all Summer Squatters, people who might become Summer Squatters, and people who just happen to be sleeping outside during summer/are reading this out of curiosity and totally do not have a sleeping bag set up somewhere:

Rooftops in summer are a fantastic idea so long as no one knows you’re up there.  They’re the peek of not-stuffy, and good for you, too.  Apparently especially for menstruating women?  I didn’t know that, but evidently sleeping outside is just super good for you lot, as it gets you on the schedule of the moon and once you’re on that your schedule never varies again.  Which is good, or something.

That must’ve been weird when everyone slept outside.  Just all the ladies, all at once, boom.  Anyway.  My point: rooftops are basically the best summer squatting sites, so long as you

a.  Have an easy get-away. (Off the side DOES NOT COUNT.  This will NEVER be funny to me again.)

b.  Have a reliable water source.  

c.  Have some form of potential cover.  

So, as the days are getting stickier, I advice all non-housed Irregulars to begin their search for a suitable roof.  

So Rory and I pretended to be Jack’s fathers at a parent-teacher conference to try to get him into that fancy castle school with the light blue uniforms.
